Have you tried D.E.R.? They're the people who invite you in to play.

Or Granada? We know they rent but they also sell. That clever leopard's gone and changed his spots.

Got our old Technics STACK system that we bought in 1985 all geared up in the West Ham Shed... loaded into 6 speakers... twin tape decks (record one to another), CD player, tuner... with FM, MW and LW... absolute old school and sounds effin' superb.... Bluetooth can go and fuck itself....

* pulls out stuck C90 cassette and rewinds tape back in with a pencil *

It wasn't a standard TDK D90 tape either that it was recorded on.

It also had auto reverse, so the tape you had Stand by R.E.M. continuously recorded on both sides didn't have to be manually ejected and turned over for more repetitive squealing from Michael Stipe.

HiFidelity do a good music centre with much of this functionality. You might have to add some of the more contemporary requests like CD.

Radio Rentals are good for this sort of thing and you can rent it first to see if you like it before you buy, and everyone's happy as Larry.

Re: Can anyone recommend a midi system?
My bastard brother had a midi system that recorded 'tape to tape' at twice the normal speed.

It made his Pet Shop Boys cassette sound alright.
